Ship Belongs to Seribu Islands Exploded in Waters of Pari Island

A Paus ship belongs to Jakarta Transportation Department was exploded and burned in the waters near Pari Island, Seribu Islands, Wednesday (8/26). The incident has injured at least 10 passengers and one of officers named Irfan Hudori.

Almost all passengers are injured. One of them had a broken leg bone

The incident broke out at around 10 AM, when the ship was going to the Pramuka Island 

Chief of Seribu Islands Resort Police Detective and Crime, Adj. Comr. Armunanto explained the passengers have been evacuated to the Seribu Islands General Hospital, Pramuka Island.

"From Kali Adem Port, the ship had stopped at Untung Jawa and Lancang Islands. When heading to Pramuka Island, the ship suddenly exploded and burned," he stated.

Head of Facility and Infrastructure Section for Waters Transportation and Port, Kamaru Zaman added that when the ship burned, there were 25 passengers consist of citizens and tourists, 3 officers of Sea Transportation General Directorate, 4 ABKs, and 1 ship captain.

"Almost all passengers are injured. One of them had a broken leg bone," he told.

To extinguish the flames, he continued, seven ships deployed to evacuate the victims. They are 1 fire ships, 1 work ship, 2 fishing boats, and 3 ships belong to Seribu Islands Resort Police.

"According to the information gathered, the incident is triggered by electricity-short circuit. Thus far, the ship is still being evacuated," he finished.
